Welcome to the Engineering guide. Here we outline what items you need to raise your engineering skill as quickly as possible.

Apprentice Engineering
1-40	Rough Blasting Powder 1x Rough Stone	Skill this up to level 40, even though the skill will turn green fast. The materials are cheap, and every point is needed.
41-50	Handful of Copper Bolts 1x Copper Bar	Save these bolts for later, you'll need them.
51	Arclight Spanner 6x Copper Bars	You need this tool to create many patterns later on.
52-65	Copper Tubes 2x Copper Bar 1x Weak Flux	Save these tubes for later, you'll need them.
65-75	Rough Boomstick 1x Copper Tube 1x Handful of Copper Bolts	I hope you saved those tubes and bolts!
Journeyman Engineering
75-95	Coarse Blasting Powder 1x Coarse Stone	You will need at least 20 for a combine later on. You will need to make about 60-80 to get enough skill points though as this turns green quickly.
96-105	Silver Contacts 1x Silver Bar	Save these contacts for later, you'll need them.
106-120	Bronze Tubes 2x Bronze Bars 1x Weak Flux	Needed for quests Look To The Stars and The Touch of Zanzil - good to auction.
121-125	Small Bronze Bombs 1x Wool Cloth 1x Silver Contact 4x Coarse Blasting Powder 2x Bronze Bars
126-145	Heavy Blasting Powder 1x Heavy Stone	Save these powders for later, you'll need them.
146-150	Big Bronze Bombs 2x Heavy Blasting Powder 3x Bronze Bar 1x Silver Contact
Expert Engineering
150-175	Green Firework 1x Heavy Leather 1x Heavy Blasting Powder	An inexpensive way to get 25 skills points. Combine them until 175.
176	Gyromatic Micro-Adjuster 4x Steel Bar	Save this for later, you will need it.
177-190	Solid Blasting Powder 2x Solid Stone	Save these for later, you will need them.
191-195	Big Iron Bomb 3x Iron Bar 3x Heavy Blasting Powder 1x Silver Contact
196-205	Mithril Tubes 3x Mithril Bars	Useable for future recipes. Save some.
206-210	Unstable Triggers 1x Mithril Bar 1x Mageweave Cloth 1x Solid Blasting Powder	Keep these for later use.
211-225	Hi-Impact Mithril Slugs 1 x Mithril Bar 1x Solid Blasting Powder
Artisan Engineering
226-235	Mithril Casings 3x Mithril Bar	Create at least 20 of these to have enough to gain skill points with the next pattern. Used for the Ungoro Crater quest, Chasing A-Me 01
236-245	Hi-Explosive Bomb 2x Mithril Casings 1x Unstable Trigger 2x Solid Blasting Powder
246-250	Mithril Gyro-Shot 2x Mithril Bar 2x Solid Blasting Powder	Sell these off unless you can use them.
251-260	Dense Blasting Powder 2x Dense Stone	Make a pile of these as you will be using them for creating shells.
261-290	Thorium Widget 3x Thorium Bar 1x Runecloth	Save these. You will need them for many high end engineering schematics later.
290-300	Thorium Tubes 6x Thorium Bar	Save these for future schematics.
Master Engineering Requires: The Burning Crusade Things are going to get expensive for the next grind. You can expect to spend a few thousand gold to get to 350 unless you have collected the materials yourself.
300-310	Fel Iron Casings 3x Fel Iron Bar Handfuls of Fel Iron Bolts 1x Fel Iron Bar Elemental Blasting Powder 1x Mote of Fire 1x Mote of Earth	Create 55 Fel Iron Casings Create 240 Handfuls of Fel Iron Bolts Create 35 Elemental Blasting Powders Save these for future skill-ups.
310-320	Fel Iron Bomb 1x Fel Iron Casing 2x Handful of Fel Iron Bolts 1x Elemental Blasting Powder
320-335	Fel Iron Musket 1x Heavy Stock 3x Fel Iron Casings 6x Handful of Fel Iron Bolts
325-335	Fel Iron Toolbox 1x Fel Iron Casings 5x Fel Iron Bar 2x Handful of Fel Iron Bolts	A 24 slot container for engineers.
335-350	White Smoke Flare 1x Netherweave Cloth 1x Elemental Blasting Powder	This is a quick and cheap 15 skill points.
Grand Master Engineering Requires: Wrath of the Lich King
You combine will vary, you can always substitue stuff as you want, this is a generalized path.
350-370	Handful of Cobalt Bolts 2 x Cobalt Bars	You will get 1-3 bolts per combine. You will need 50 for recipes later. This will probably take about 35 combines.
370-377	Volatile Blasting Trigger 3 x Cobalt Bars 1 x Crystallized Water	Combine this 18 times, you will get 36 triggers. Save these for later.
377-385	Overcharged Capacitor 4 x Cobalt Bars 1 x Crystallized Earth	Save these for later. Make 10 of them.
385-390	Explosive Decoy 1 x Frostweave Cloth 3 x Volatile Blasting Trigger	Make 8 of these.
390-400	Froststeel Tube 8 x Cobalt Bar 1 x Crystallized Water	Save these for later. Make 15 of these or until you reach 400.
400-405	Diamond-cut Refractor Scope 1 x Froststeel Tube 2 x Handful of Cobalt Bolts	Make 5 of these.
405-415	Saronite Bomb 5 x Saronite Bar 1 x Volatile Blasting Trigger	Make 13 of these or until you reach 415.
415-420	Mana Injector Kit 12 x Saronite Bar 2 x Crystallized Water	Make 5 of these, they sell good on the Auction House.
420-430	Mechanized Snow Goggles 8 x Saronite Bars 2 x Borean Leather 1 x Eternal Shadow	Make 13 of these or until you reach 430.
430-435	Noise Machine 2 x Froststeel Tube 2 x Overcharged Capacitor 8 x Handful of Cobalt Bolts	Make 5 of these.
435-450	Gnomish Army Knife 10 x Saronite Bar 1 x Skinning Kife 1 x Mining Pick 1 x Blacksmithing Hammer	You'll need to make lots of these, maybe 25-30 of them.
